“Solutions for on Trend: Bakery & Snack”

In this article, Jeff reviews flavor trends in the snacks and bakery industries:

Our [Gold Coast Ingredients] R&D and Marketing Teams work closely together to stay updated on trending flavors and separate trends into respective categories.

Spice: Spice flavor trends have
increased throughout the past few years,
with products including crackers, chips
(potato, vegetable, tortilla), nuts, popcorn,
meat snacks and recently a growing
number of savory nutrition bars.

Indulgent: Indulgent flavors have
played a dominant role in flavoring bakery
products, including individual cakes,
brownies, cookies, donuts, snack and
nutrition bars. These flavors have also
helped innovation in the popcorn and
nut industries.

Green: The green smoothie and juice
trend has migrated into “healthy” snack
chip and popcorn products. Flavors in
this space are: kale, spinach, parsley,
cucumber and apple.

Free From: With vegan, allergen-free
and other health concerns influencing
the bakery and snack industries, so has
the demand for flavors that are free from
select ingredients. Gold Coast Ingredients
has developed flavors that replicate
consumers’ favorite food products and
ingredients, without using any traces
of animal proteins, dairy, nuts and even
today’s costly vanillas.

Classic: Despite the evolution of innovation,
classic flavors such as vanilla,
chocolate, strawberry and lemon flavors,
continue to be leading flavors throughout
the bakery and snack industries.
